The bathroom is one of the most used rooms in a home besides the kitchen, but that doesn’t mean its use has to be a drain on the environment. Plenty of simple eco-friendly tips and tricks can help you to go green while incorporating a smart and chic bathroom design.
- Change that shower head. There are many options on the market today and unlike older models, these newer models provide a full spray without using more water. Another quick shower tip: Wet your hair and body, turn off the water while soaping up, then turn it back on to rinse. Imagine all the water (and money) you will save!
- Install a low flow toilet. Did you catch our previous post about the toilet legislation that went into effect on July 1st? If you haven’t upgraded yet, what are you waiting for? There are some really sleek models available that are energy-efficient and that blend in with your desired bathroom style.
- Pay attention to disposable materials. Do you often use disposable cups for rinsing or lots of tissues? Try switching to a reusable plastic cup and a cloth hand towel. These tips will help to cut down on bathroom trash and ultimately less waste in local landfills. If you do opt for disposable items, try buying things that can be recycled – and don’t forget to actually recycle them!
