Let’s cut right to the chase – the bathroom is a dangerous place to be. According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), nearly 250,000 people over the age of 15 are hospitalized after suffering injuries in the bathroom.

So, what’s making the bathroom such a dangerous place to be?

Well, slippery floors are the most common culprit.┬áThese accidents mostly happen while bathing or showering and some happen while using the toilet. And for the past few years, accidental falls have been a leading cause of death among senior citizens – many of which occur in the bathroom and near a toilet.

How can you make your bathroom safer?

  • Install grab bars on walls in the shower, near the tub and toilet.
  • Install shower seats
